First, there was Silly Me. Now, there is Silly Us.
In an exclusive sequel for The Pound Project, illustrator Ruby Elliot (aka Rubyetc) explores relationships – where they start, where they get muddy, where they end up.
Partners, pets, people you'll know only for the bus ride into town. Why do we all need each other so much?
This book might have a few answers...
Every purchase of Silly Us includes two original, full-colour A6 prints by Ruby.
Words on Silly Us
"It is always special being able to share drawings with people in book form. I had so much fun making Silly Me I thought it would be great to draw a sequel from an equally wobbly but different angle.
"This is about relationships in all senses of the word, and how silly it is that we all ended up here at the same time. The book is a brief look at some of the joys and horribles of being around the people we know best and those we barely know at all.
“Silly Me was my own visual diary and thoughts and Silly Us has more observations on people and their goings-on in general. As the titles would suggest they are both incredibly serious editions.
"I can’t speak for all artists, but all artists are definitely irritating. So maintaining a relationship with one for any length of time makes you a patient and possibly stupid (but very appreciated) person. Pets will love you because you rarely leave the house.
"I don’t like working hard, it makes me very stressed and bored. Too much life can make me very stressed and bored too. I think that’s probably fine and results in some sort of natural equilibrium. I also create a lot of Me Time by being depressed for one half of the month.
"I very much hope people find something to laugh at in Silly Us. But if you don’t then it will also make an excellent door wedge."
